Son Rock Kids Camp

The girls went to Vacation Bible School this week.  They had a lot of fun.  Today they sang songs for parents and then we had pizza.  They also had the Ultimate Slooze Show (similar to Double Dare but with a religious message slipped in).  At the end Kaitlyn got slimed!

Heidelberg Castle

Today we took a trip to Heidelberg Castle.  The earliest castle structure was built before AD 1214 and later expanded into 2 castles circa 1294; however, in 1537, a lightning-bolt destroyed the upper castle. The present structures had been expanded by 1650, before damage by later wars and fires. In 1764, another lightning-bolt destroyed some rebuilt sections.

Stadtmauerfest

Today we took a trip to the historical village of Freinsheim.  The town was celebrating its annual “stadtmauerfest” - city wall celebration.  Along the inside perimeter of the town wall (built during the 15th century) there were numerous food and wine tents.  It was a great day.

The girls and I went to the Macaroni Grill on base for my birthday lunch.  In the evening Aunt Marg and cousin Sean came into town for a visit.  We had a great dinner and dessert together.
