Mutton Busting

This afternoon we went to the “Hoedown for Heroes”.  The girls took a try at mutton busting.  They had to hold on to a sheep and ride it as long as they could.  It’s like a kid rodeo.

Just Like Old Times

Tonight we got to meet up with the Johnsons.  Jared and Brian were stationed in OK and served in Iraq together back in 2003.  After 8 years it was great to see him and his wife and to meet all the kids.

The kids had fun going through Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Wax Museum downtown.

Remember the Alamo

Today we went to the Alamo with Pop Pop.  It is located right in the middle of the city and is a shrine for those who lost their lives in the battle.533267_346295428739791_749089373_n

The Battle of the Alamo took place February 23 – March 6, 1836.  It was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution.  After Mexican troops killed the Texan troops at the Alamo, many settlers decided to join the Army and fight back.  They were able to defeat the Mexican Army on April 21, 1836 and end the revolution.
